We have already tested the Infinix Note 8 smartphone — we liked almost everyone, except for the price. Now its cost has decreased, and the gadget has become quite competitive. In the meantime, the brand has unveiled another interesting model: the Infinix HOT 10 Play. It costs less than 100$, while it has several obvious advantages over competitors. But let’s talk about everything in order.
Smartphones and tablets

The first thing you notice when you get acquainted with the Infinix HOT 10 Play is its large size. This is not bad and not good: just someone likes big screens, and someone does not. Here the diagonal is as much as 6.82 inches — so in the price segment up to 100$. only the ZTE Blade V2020 Smart and a couple of other models can boast. Due to the 20.5:9 format, it is convenient to hold the gadget.
With such a large diagonal, the resolution of the matrix is rather modest — 1640*720. By the way, ZTE’s competitor has exactly the same — apparently, using a screen with a higher resolution automatically transfers the smartphone to a higher price segment. If you had another budget smartphone before HOT 10 Play, the image quality is unlikely to confuse you — the picture does not crumble into pixels.
IPS matrix feels quite high quality. The images look bright and contrasty, with a slight blue shift in colors. The screen frames are relatively small, except that the bottom one looks massive, but for a gadget for 100$. it’s forgivable.
In terms of the location of the controls — no surprises. On the right side there is a volume control and a power button, on the left side there is a tray for two SIM and a memory card (triple slot), at the bottom there is a microUSB connector and a 3.5 mm jack.
The fingerprint sensor is located on the back wall. Given the high height of the smartphone, it is not very convenient to use it — sometimes you have to intercept the gadget in order to get your finger on the scanner. But there is a way out — to use facial identification.

At a cursory glance, you might think that a block of 4 cameras is installed here. In fact, there are 2 of them, another window is occupied by a flash, and in the “fourth” there is just an AI inscription, indicating the use of artificial intelligence. So in fact, you only have a 13-megapixel camera at your disposal.
In normal lighting, it shoots well: everything is in order with sharpness and detail, there are no serious highlights or failures.
When shooting indoors or with a lack of light, noise appears, but it is quite tolerable.
The range of modes is quite modest: in addition to the main one, there is also “Beauty” for portraits and “Blur” — it’s clear why.
There is no macro mode as such, but if you wish, you can take decent pictures from a short distance. For example, we shot these shots in the museum with models of the Golden Ring cities in Yaroslavl.

MediaTek Helio G35 is a budget 8-core processor manufactured using a 12 nm process technology. Its capabilities are enough for all basic tasks — except for a few incomprehensible freezes of the interface and the camera application during the test, we have no reason to criticize.
Although the HOT 10 Play page on the official Infinix website says «Play non-stop», it refers to the capabilities of the battery rather than the processor. The chip, although quite fresh, is still not designed for games. More precisely, you can run a wide range of them, but you will have to forget about high settings. For example, the Word Of Tanks Blitz smartphone normally pulls at medium settings, in PUBG it is better to immediately reduce them to the minimum. However, given the average screen resolution, it makes no sense to experiment with good graphics.
The smartphone runs on Android 10 with a proprietary XOS shell. The interface is quite pleasant, the logic is clear, there are useful functions such as the «quick menu» (appears if you drag your finger from the right edge of the screen to the center and hold it).

That’s really what really pleases, so it’s a margin of autonomy. The 6000 mAh battery, combined with good energy optimization, allows you to do without charging 2 full days. True, charging is supported only by a 10-watt adapter, so it takes a very long time. It took us about 4 hours! You can reproach the manufacturer for using an outdated microUSB for recharging, but again, the budget model does not invite excessive criticism.
As we mentioned at the very beginning of the test, there are not so many competitors for this model. This is because it is not so easy to offer a decent processor, a large screen and a capacious battery, while not stepping over the psychologically important milestone of 100$. (on AliExpress, the 4/64 GB version costs about ). Of course, it would be possible to put a better camera and provide at least 18 W charging support, but these are all additional costs. So, with an eye on the cost, let’s call this smartphone successful. If you don’t mind watching videos in Full HD and playing games at high settings, this is a good option for fans of large screens and batteries.
