At the end of May, realme introduced another «numbered» model. Now 8 Pro is the best that the brand has on the Russian market.
New — although not a flagship model, it looks pretty cool. And it’s not just the thin bezels of the screen. The back panel of the smartphone is made of plastic, but it has not even just a matte finish, but a slightly rough finish.
Due to this, fingerprints, in principle, do not remain! Maybe there are no such spectacular gradients as competitors, but realme 8 Pro is a smartphone that you don’t want to hide in a case. And for this, many thanks to the designers and technologists, we will forgive them even the huge slogan Dare to leap on the back panel. By the way, the company translates it as “Changing standards”, and not literally.
The screen with a diagonal of 6.4 inches is made on an AMOLED matrix and is simply magnificent by the standards of the middle class. Large viewing angles, sufficient brightness margin, high pixel density (about 411 ppi).
And there are settings that many competitors do not have. Initially, the colors on the screen seem too saturated, and this can be explained in the menu. Go to «Screen and brightness» — «More» — «Screen color mode» and see the initial settings «Bright colors». If you do not like this display, you can set the option «Tenderness» — then the gamma will become more natural.
In addition, you can smoothly change the color temperature. The slider is in the same place, in the settings.
The volume keys have now moved to the right side. Feels tight, on 7 Pro they were softer.
On the left side there is only a card slot, and it is triple — for two SIM cards and a memory card. On the bottom edge there is a USB Type-C connector, a speaker (apparently there is only one, although there were a couple in 7 Pro), a microphone and a 3.5 mm jack.
The Snapdragon 720G platform is one of the popular mid-range solutions. Realme 7 Pro also worked with the same processor, and no one complained much. The smartphone does not slow down even with a large number of basic tasks and allows you to play most games at high settings. True, after 15 minutes of active gaming, it starts to noticeably warm up, but this does not lead to a drop in the processor frequency.

The stock of memory on board can be called optimal: not large, but not small either. 6 GB of RAM is probably more than enough for most users, as well as 128 GB of memory (if you do not abuse the 108 megapixel camera mode). Again, remember the presence of a slot for a microSD card.
Here realme decided to put everyone in the belt and offer 108 megapixels already in the middle class. The main camera here is made on a Samsung HM2 sensor and has phase detection autofocus. True, the pictures still turn out to be 12-megapixels, since 9 pixels are combined into one. But you can also turn on the 108 MP mode if you need high detail and do not feel sorry for the storage space.
Another plus of such a matrix is the ability to use digital zoom. Here it changes in steps: first three times, then five times. Why not 2x — do not ask, we are guessing. In fact, when zooming, excess fragments of a 108-megapixel image are simply cut off, and the remaining piece is processed using AI.
Option 3 turns out to be quite decent — at least with enough light. At 5x, detail already drops, but for a digital zoom, the result is very good.

The wide-angle camera is unremarkable: 8 megapixels with an angle of 119 °. Even more commonplace is a 2-megapixel macro camera, which manufacturers stubbornly install for no reason.

Shooting in night mode does not give a fundamental gain compared to the usual one. Everything is at the level of elaboration of the sky and details in the darkest / lightest places. We are sure that at a cursory glance you are unlikely to find a difference in these two pictures. Especially on a smartphone screen.

And a few more cats in order to show the possibilities of portrait mode. In it, you can not only blur the background (and adjust the degree of blurring), but also make the blur dynamic. Such settings are hidden in the menu with filters. But there are no popular detailed «beautifiers» here, except for the general processing with the help of AI.
In terms of autonomy, realme, as always, is doing well. It’s not that the 8 Pro has a huge battery — it’s only 4500 mAh. But the possibilities of fast charging are simply captivating: in less than an hour, the battery can be charged from 0 to 100%, with the first 80% in half an hour. With such indicators, it does not matter how long the smartphone works without a network connection. Connect the wire while you drink coffee — and you can use the gadget all day. The adapter, of course, is included — as much as 65 watts. True, Super Dart Charge only supports 50 so far.

The release of the next generation of the model is, as a rule, an upgrade in all directions. But in the case of realme 8 Pro, this is not entirely true. The processor remained the same, the resolution of the front camera dropped, the stereo sound turned into mono, and the convenient fingerprint sensor in the power key moved under the screen. Honestly, this can be left unnoticed: well, does it matter if the selfie camera is 32 or 16 megapixels, and how often do you listen to music through the built-in speakers? And Snapdragon 720G is a popular solution with most competitors, so why change it.
So, objectively, apart from the previous model, realme 8 Pro is an excellent smartphone. It has a cool screen, an original back panel, good customization options, great cameras and high autonomy. In addition, in less than a month, the price has dropped significantly and now you can buy a new gadget for 210$. (no longer 25,000, as at the start of sales). So even if it did not become a breakthrough model, it is still a worthy competitor to the rest of the Chinese “middle peasants”.
